Below is the Pegs2Pedals Rule Book which all riders are responsible for reading and understanding prior to event registration. All of the following rules and regulations are set in place for the safety of all participants and spectators attending the event in addition to setting an orderly conduct for the race. The Rule Book is intended as a guide for the sport and is in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant/spectator/official.
Offroad motorcycle racing is a dangerous sport. The decision to participate in or attend a Pegs2Pedals event is completely voluntary. Each attendee assumes all risk and responsibility for their safety. JH Events is not liable under any circumstance for the injury or expenses of an attendee.
The race director has the right to disqualify or penalize any participant at his or her discretion.
SAFETY & RIDING EQUIPMENT:
It is the responsibility of the rider to wear all appropriate safety gear while participating in the Pegs2Pedals event.
All riders MUST wear a helmet, shatter resistant eye protection, protective long sleeve jersey and pants, kneepads, gloves and boots ankle height or above to race.
Reckless and dangerous riders will be disqualified and asked to leave the premises immediately for the safety of all attendees. There is absolutely no toleration of this behavior.
MECHANICAL ISSUES:
Should a rider have mechanical issues during the race, the rider must make adjustments to his or her bike off the course. Once the issue has been resolved, the rider must enter the course in the same spot they exited the course. Failure to follow this regulation will result in disqualification.
If a rider is unable to fix a mechanical issue, they are not allowed to switch bikes during the same moto. The person/team will receive a DNF for the moto.
FLAGS & COURSE MARKINGS:
All riders must stay within the designated marked course for both the motocross and mountain bike sections. The mountain bike loop will be well-marked.
- Yellow Flag – Caution or slow down
- Black Flag – Exit the track immediately.
- White Flag – One more lap on the motocross section
- Checkered Flag – Last lap on motocross track
Gate Fees:
Anyone entering the track venue (racers or spectators) will be required to pay a $15 gate fee (CASH ONLY).
Race Entry Fees:
All individuals participating and the motocross rider of the relay teams are required to pay the entry fee to participate. The first two classes are either $35 pre-registration or $40 onsite registration, any additional classes are $20. The entry fee includes one moto.
Riders will be able to choose their race number as long as it is available within their class. Numbers be on bikes and clearly visible for timing purposes. Riders will receive the same bike number on a bike number plate at registration to attach to the front of their mountain bike.
PRE-RACE TRANSITION SETUP:
Individual Racers: Thirty minutes prior to the moto, the rider will bring his/her dirt bike stand, mountain bike and mountain bike gear to the transition area. Transition area staff will help riders find space on the racks for their mountain bike and their dirt bike stand. Each rider will be given a bin to put their mountain bike gear in. After riders have setup their transition area, they should report to the MX gate drop for the start of the event.
Relay Team Racers:
Thirty minutes prior to the moto, both relay teammates will report to the transition area. Teammate #2 (mountain biker) will stand outside of the exit side of transition with their mountain bike. Transition area staff will help riders find space along the outside of transition. Teammate #1 will setup their dirt bike stand inside the transition area (closest to the entrance side of transition). Once riders have setup equipment in transition, teammate #1 (MX rider) will report to the MX gate drop for the start of the event. Teammate #2 (mountain biker) will wait next to their mountain bike.
STARTING PROCEDURES:
All individual racers and riders completing the MX section of the course will have a gate drop start. Riders will be given a 30 second and 15 second warning on the start line, the gates will drop 15 seconds after. All riders will be given a short briefing with general event info prior to the race start.
This event consists of three sections, a motocross section, a transition area and a mountain bike loop.
MOTOCROSS SECTION:
All classes will complete 4 laps on The Wick 338’s motocross track with the exception of the following classes:
-85cc (9-11 yrs. old) – completing 3 laps
-85cc (12-15 yrs. old) – completing 3 laps
-250 Pro – completing 6 laps
-450 Pro – completing 6 laps
-Open Relay A – completing 6 laps
-Open Relay B – completing 6 laps
-Open Relay C – completing 6 laps
TRANSITION AREA:
Individual Racers: Once the rider completes the laps on the MX track, they will be directed up the hill towards the pits/parking area. At the top of the hill, riders will be instructed to kill all power on their dirt bikes and roll down into the entrance of transition area. Just before entering transition, riders will dismount their dirt bike and walk them to their stands. Riders will change any necessary gear to prepare for the mountain bike section, take their mountain bike off the rack and walk them out the other end of transition (exit end). Once the participant is out of the fenced in transition area, they may mount their mountain bikes.
Relay Team Racers: Relay teammate #2 (mountain bike rider) will be waiting just outside of the exit side of the transition area with their mountain bike. Once relay teammate #1 (MX rider) completes the motocross section, they will dismount their dirt bike, walk it to their stand within transition and run to tag their mountain bike partner outside of transition. enter transition and walk their dirt bike to their stand. Teammate #2 can now walk their mountain bike to the “Mount Mountain Bike” sign, get on their bike and begin the mountain bike loop.
MOUNTAIN BIKE SECTION:
Individual Racers: Once the rider exits the transition area, they can mount their mountain bike. The rider should follow the marked mountain bike section through the woods until they cross the marked finish line (top of the pits just behind registration trailer).
Relay Team Racers: Relay teammate #2 will mount their mountain bike after the “Mount Mountain Bike” sign outside of transition. The rider should follow the marked mountain bike section through the woods until they cross the marked finish line (top of the pits just behind registration trailer).
SCORING/TIMING:
Scoring/timing of the entire event from start to finish will be done manually. Each rider is responsible for knowing his/her number.
RESULTS:
Paper results will be posted near the registration trailer. For timing issues, riders should see registration manager in trailer.
Pegs2Pedals is a rain or shine event. Should there be any severe weather predictions for race day inhibiting the ability to produce the event or endanger participants, JH Events will monitor conditions and inform participants of any delays, postponements or cancellations. Updates will be conveyed through social media outlets, the website and PA announcements at the event.
